The work of The Mindshift Institute is devoted to challenging thinking, deepening emotions and opening possibilities. Our website contains life-positive information which reveals how the present vision of reality is incomplete. Our goal is to help expand the current definition of reality by exploring ideas outside of the dominant worldview and to assist people in waking up from what we call “The Trance State,” an unconscious but profound detachment from inner and outer reality.
Patricia B. Corbett and Michael Mannion are the co-founders of The Mindshift Institute which has produced over two dozen events in New York City and at the invitation of organizations such as the Center for Psychology & Social Change in Cambridge, MA; Friends of the Institute of Noetic Sciences in New York, and member groups of the Institute of Noetic Sciences in California and Connecticut.
Ms. Corbett is a graduate of the IM School of Healing Arts, a five-year training program in New York City. She now practices “Wholeness/Healing,” a technique designed to help one open to deeper self-understanding and to augment health, balance and well-being, using a combination of healing approaches (see Store for more information).
Ms. Corbett is also a board member of the Anomalous Phenomena Research Center and a member of Rachel Pollack's Tarot Laboratory. For five years, she was the vice-president of FIONS, the New York City affiliate of the Institute of Noetic Sciences. Previously, for 16 years, she was the owner and president of an international distribution corporation with operations in Chicago and the Port of New York and New Jersey.
Mr. Mannion has been a professional health and medical writer for over 25 years, working with major conventional and complementary health organizations and practitioners. He was formerly the Director of Professional Education Publications for the American Cancer Society and the Managing Editor of the Society's flagship journal. Ca-A Cancer Journal for Clinicians. He has also been a staff writer for the New York City Health Department and PW Communications, Inc., a medical publishing company. In addition, Mr. Mannion has written on a freelance basis for the Foundation for Innovation in Medicine, Columbia-Presbyterian Center for Biomedical Communications, Age Wave, Inc, the Pritikin Center, Creative Living Magazine, MD Magazine and many other medical publications.
He is the author of a number of works of nonfiction, among them The New American Medicine (2002); Frankenstein Foods (2002); The Pharmacist's Guide to Over-the-Counter and Natural Remedies (1999); How to Help Your Teenager Stop Smoking (2000); and Project Mindshift: The Reeducation of the American Public Concerning Extraterrestrial Life (1998).
